19-Year-Old Accused Of Killing Teen At Lowell Party Nabbed In California

A 19-year-old Lowell man has been arrested in California and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of another teen during a party in Lowell.

Dustin Defrietas, 19, was arrested by police in Stockton, California, after Sakdara Khoeun, also 19, was shot and killed at a party at a home on Westford Street in Lowell on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Khoeun died later that same day, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office said in a statement.

An autopsy later conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner revealed the cause of death to be a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. 


Defrietas is charged with:

  • Assault and battery with a firearm
  • Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury
  • Possession of a firearm
  • Discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a residence

It's unclear if he's been extradited to Massachusetts.

Lowell police and Massachusetts State Police are investigating this case.
